Privacy Policy

What we collect when you learn with us, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

ActWithShivani ("ActWithShivani", "we", "us" or "our") runs an online acting academy at actwithshivani.com (the "Platform"). On the Platform you can browse, book and pay for live acting classes, programs and webinars. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data when you use the Platform.

We process personal data in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under them. When you use the Platform, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

1. Who we are

The Platform is operated by [Legal entity name], [Registered address], India. For this Privacy Policy, we are the "Data Fiduciary" for the personal data described below. You can reach us at contact@actwithshivani.com.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details: your full name, email address, mobile number and password. We store your password only in encrypted (hashed) form.
  • Profile details (optional): your city, date of birth, acting experience level and profile photo.
  • Booking details: the classes and webinars you book, the coupon codes you use, and your booking history. If you book as a guest, we keep the name, email address and mobile number you enter at checkout.
  • Messages: anything you send us through the contact form or by email.

Information created when you use the Platform

  • Payment records: the amount, discount, GST, payment status and the transaction reference from our payment partner. We do not collect or store your card number, CVV, UPI PIN or net banking password. Our payment partner handles these directly.
  • Attendance records: whether you attended a live session, and the times you joined and left, as recorded by your trainer.
  • Technical data: a session cookie that keeps you logged in, plus standard server logs such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you requested. We use these for security and troubleshooting.

3. How we use your information

  • To create and manage your account, and to let you log in and reset your password.
  • To process bookings and payments, issue booking confirmations and receipts, and manage waitlists, cancellations and refunds.
  • To send you session joining links, calendar invitations, reminders and important updates about sessions you have booked.
  • To let your trainer see who is attending their session and record attendance.
  • To reply to your questions and support requests.
  • To keep the Platform secure, prevent fraud and misuse, and fix technical problems.
  • To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations, including GST records.
  • With your consent, to tell you about new classes, webinars and offers. You can opt out of these messages at any time.

We do not sell your personal data.

4. Who we share it with

We share personal data only as far as each purpose requires:

  • Trainers: the trainer for a class or webinar you book can see your name, contact details and attendance, so that they can run the session.
  • Payment partner: payments are processed by Razorpay (or another RBI-authorised payment aggregator we may use). Your payment details are handled under their own privacy policy.
  • Service providers: hosting, email delivery and video-conferencing providers who process data on our behalf, under a contract, and only to provide their services to us.
  • Legal requirements: government authorities or law enforcement, when Indian law requires it or when disclosure is needed to protect our rights, our users or the public.

Some of these providers may store data on servers outside India. When this happens, we transfer data only as permitted under Indian law.

5. Cookies and embedded content

We use one essential session cookie to keep you logged in and to protect forms against misuse. We do not use advertising cookies.

Some pages show YouTube videos. The video loads only after you click play. From that point, YouTube (Google) may set its own cookies under its privacy policy.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your account data while your account is active. Booking, payment and invoice records are kept for as long as Indian tax and accounting laws require, generally eight years. We keep contact messages for as long as we need them to resolve your query. After that, we delete or anonymise the data.

7. How we protect it

We use reasonable security practices to protect your data. These include encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, role-based access for staff and trainers, and protection against cross-site request forgery. No system is completely secure. If a personal data breach affects you, we will notify you and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.

8. Your rights

Under Indian data protection law, you can:

  • ask what personal data we hold about you and how we use it;
  • correct, complete or update your data (most of it can be changed on your dashboard's profile page);
  • ask us to delete your data, except records we must keep by law;
  • withdraw consent you have given, such as for marketing emails;
  • nominate another person to exercise your rights if you die or become incapacitated;
  • raise a grievance with us, and then with the Data Protection Board of India.

To use any of these rights, email contact@actwithshivani.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

9. Children

Our classes are open to learners of all ages, but anyone under 18 must use the Platform with the verifiable consent of a parent or lawful guardian. The parent or guardian should create the account and complete any booking. We do not knowingly process a child's data without such consent. We do not track children's behaviour or direct targeted advertising at them.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make significant changes, we will tell you by email or through a notice on the Platform.
